Description

Scientific name is Quercus xwarei ‘Long’ and is available in 7 gallon pots. Current size is 8 to 9 feet and diameter (caliper) is 1". It is very nice looking. Mature height can reach 60 feet high and 25 feet width. Deciduous tree; Strong, upright habit; Narrow profile; Excellent for smaller landscape spaces. Requires full sun; average water; low maintenance; cold tolerant; flowers in the spring and nice fall color. The Regal Prince® oak is a cross between a fastigiate English oak (Quercus robur 'Fastigiata') and a swamp white oak (Quercus bicolor). The original tree still exists in Jacksonville, Illinois and has given rise to this cultivar, 'Long', and 'Nadler', an even narrower cultivated variety. Regal Prince® is noted for its narrow upright habit and leathery glossy-green foliage. Mature size 40-60H x 10-15W grown in full sun in somewhat moist, well-drained, slightly acidic loamy soils.
